Suck it up
Ephesians 6:13
“Fight like a man. Habit is overcome by habit.”
Thomas a’ Kempis
“Get on your knees and fight like a man!”
Written and Performed by Petra
Ladies, I apologize in advance for some of the expressions used today. Hopefully you will read on and understand.
Gentlemen, it is time to nut up. The half-way, limp-wristed near commitments that have been made to God must be put behind us. Following Jesus is not for wimps. It is the hardest thing you will ever do. It is the best thing you will ever do. But the problem is that there are not enough people taking this seriously. I say this because the word “Christian” has become a dirty word. I say this because I am sick to death of people who want to follow Jesus on Sunday mornings and when the road is sunny and smooth. But when sacrifice and suffering make their appearance, and they will, too many people fold like they were in the French Army. There is no middle road to being a disciple. You are all in or you are not really in.
Jesus speaks of the Final Judgement and the truth that there will be some people who think they are going to Heaven who won’t be. They will be surprised, but when confronted with the reality of a shallow, arrogant, and hypocritical life, they will have no choice but to accept His judgement as true and faithful. The question for each of us is this: will I be surprised by what Christ says to me and about me?
The amazing thing about God is that it is never too late. The beautiful thing about God is that He wants to come along side each of us and help us in anyway we need. The awesome thing about God is that He loves us more than we will ever know and wants, more than anyone, to see us succeed. The fabulous thing about God is that He never breaks a promise or His Word and He is always there for us. God is calling all who will listen and respond to be committed to Him - the only commitment that really matters. He wants people who will be sold our for Him. Period. In or out - there is no time and no place to sit on the fence for one who really wants to follow the Rabbi.
